Oscilloscope is an instrument measuring electrical quantities that can map the electric signal. In most applications, the graph is displayed showing how the signals change with time. As you can see in the picture below indicates that the vertical axis (Y) represents the voltage V, on the horizontal axis (X) indicates the amount of time t.
Oscilloscope screen is divided into eight large boxes in a vertical direction and 10 boxes in a horizontal direction. Each box is made on a smaller scale. A number of buttons on the oscilloscope is used to change the value scales.
Oscilloscope 'Dual Trace' can demonstrate two signals at once at the same time. This method is usually used to see the shape of the signal at two different places in an electronic circuit.
Sometimes the signal oscilloscope is also expressed by three dimensions. Vertical axis (Y) represents the voltage V and the horizontal axis (X) indicates the amount of time t. Additional Z-axis represents the intensity of the oscilloscope display. But this part is usually ignored because they are not needed in the measurement.
